The DeKalb Master Gardener Association funds and maintains two community service project gardens in DeKalb County.

ImageThe Brookhaven Plant-A-Row for the Hungry Garden is on the grounds of the DeKalb Service Center in Brookhaven Park at 2660 Osborne Rd., NE, Atlanta.  The location is at the corner of Peachtree Road and Osborne Road.  [For a map, SCROLL DOWN.]

The PAR garden is a joint project with ECOPAAT, a non-profit organization in Atlanta whose mission is to inform families about health and nutrition, earth stewardship, and urban agricultural economy.  Our vegetable harvest is used to fund ECOPAAT community projects.

Prior to our affiliation with ECOPAAT, our produce was donated to the Methodist Children's Home in Decatur and to The Sullivan Center in Atlanta, whose food pantry and inner city food distribution programs are part of their "a hand up, not a hand out" community service program.

ImageThe Freedom Park Bird and Butterfly Garden is a past joint project with the Atlanta Audubon Society and the Freedom Park Conservancy.  A strip of park land that was once home sites and driveways has been transformed into a Georgia native plant habitat for birds and butterflies.

Adjacent to Mary Lin Elementary School, the habitat serves as a teaching garden for local students.  The garden is located along a popular walking path on the edge of Freedom Park near North Avenue and Candler Park Drive in Atlanta.  [For a map, SCROLL DOWN.]
